One of the most popular attractions is Cloud Gate, also known as The Bean. It was created by artist Anish Kapoor in 2004 and is meant to resemble a drop of mercury. Visitors are encouraged to walk around this unique piece of art for some amazing photo opportunities! Another popular work of art at Millennium Park is Crown Fountain. This large sculpture features two 50-foot glass block towers on both sides, with water spouting out from the top through LED-lit fountains. On one side, visitors can see their reflection while they watch videos displayed across the surface on the other tower that show images drawn from Chicago’s history and culture. A third great attraction at Millenium Park includes Jay Pritzker Pavilion, which hosts free concerts and events throughout the year. The sound shell is designed to echo and amplify sounds in much the same way that trees do in a forest. Millennium Park is also home to Lurie Garden, which was constructed in 2004 as part of an effort to revitalize Grant Park. It features more than 20,000 perennials planted among its five acres of land area.
